ET in High Definition 1080p

Ok, so I have a new PC and also a new TV. I have both my PS3 and PC running HD (1080p) on a 32" HD (1080p) TV Screen.

My problem is that I am unable to set ET to use a 1900x1080 resolution. In my Jaymod+Etmain profile .cfgs I have changed the height to 1900 and the width to 1080.

It seems to be high defnition(ish) when I am in window mode (Not sure how to check) but if I enter full screen, it is still 1024x768(or whatever it is). I know that ET is old and its not going to be 'high definition graphics' but I would like the resolution to be much much higher. Playing this on a 32" TV at 1024x768 is a big problem as everything is extremely huge and the colours are dark with faint horizontal lines on the screen

Anyone able to help me? Pwetty Pwease?

SOLUTION

Open up your ET directory and go to the ETMain Folder

Create A New Text Document And Rename To Reso.cfg

Paste the code at the bottom into that document and SAVE

Run ET and when on the main screen open console with ` and type /exec Reso.cfg

Ignore the /vid_restart error and restart the game

If it didn't change, at the main menu type /exec reso.cfg and restart

Hopefully that should have done it

If you have an AutoExe already, just paste the code at the bottom of your cfg. If you do not already have an AutoExec file, rename Reso.cfg to AutoExec.cfg and the code will run automatically when you launch ET.

isnt it 1920x1080 ? Did u put those commands to your cfg or etconfig.cfg ?

Those cmds are in my cfg and it works :
seta r_customaspect "1"
seta r_customwidth "1440"
seta r_customheight "900"
seta r_mode "-1"

Thanks, I didnt know it was 1920 but I have now changed it correctly. I will edit this if it works

Well I just tried it again but it has gone back to 800x600 again... Confuseddd

Steph your problem probably doesn't come from ET...but from your graphic card config. Check if, for the games displayed on the TV, the resolution is the one that you want, or 800x600... Your graphic card may have a different setting for the desktop and one for applications like games when it is displayed on an other monitor (in this case the TV).

Several time in the past, people requestiong help for such issue had this small problem... Thinking that the problem comes from ET, when it's only coming from graphic card settings...

Sooo Stephy is it your cfg or default etconfig.cfg ? If its default u may make notepad file , copy those commands i posted u before (with your resolution) + vid_restart at the end and save it as for example gfx.cfg
In console u write /exec cfg and it should work

Heya, Thanks for the help. When my TV changes signal it pops up and tells me a little information one of which is the resolution. The PC obviously displays at 1080p on the desktop but as soon as ET is launched it changes to 800x600. I have a couple of other full screen games, but they run at 1080p by detecting my TV, so I'm really confused. I did have a look at all the Nvidia control panel settings but nothing there that I think can fix the problem.

I changed the settings in the 2 etconfigs.cfgs that are in

C:\...\Etmain\Stephanie
C:\...\Jaymod\Stephanie

So the problem was simplier than i expected... Just a problem to "exec" the config!

Almost, I HAD to create a new cfg file with those settings in it and then /exec it.

Even though I had all those settings in ALL my .cfg files for ET it would always change back to 800x600 and couldnt go higher than 1024x768. Not sure why? But its fixed now with autoexec
