Monitor Resolution ???
Hi,
i don't have enough money to buy a new computer now, i need it for the fuel of my house and new winter tyres for my car, it is a priority.
But , i received for Xmas a gift card of 150 euro to use in a MediaMarkt shop. So i decided to buy a new monitor, the first step of my new computer lol. Old crt 17'' for now.
I just wonder if i can buy a 22 inch or more, as know that the maximum resolution of my graphic card is 1280x1024.
I can't and i don't want to upgrade it anymore, too old computer (8years) with an AGP port.
Thanks for your advices.

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
:S 22 inch monitor resolution is higher then that so i wouldnt advice you to buy any higher then 19 inch. i do advice u to buy a 19inch tft monitor since well for games any higher u would get very low fps since u say its an old computer + it doesnt do any dmg to your eyes unlike a crt.. lets see what bitchy says..

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
You can buy a 22" if you find a 22" with VGA or use a DVI-VGA adapter but its quite a waste of money to buy a new nice screen without being able to enjoy it to its maximum. I would do as kid-down says, buy a 17" or 19" tft or go for a 22" and keep it and use its max potential when you upgrade your pc. Just set the monitor to run at 1280x1024 and when you buy a new pc set it to run at the 1920x1080 or what the computer/monitor supports.

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
ok, i've made some little research.
It seems that it is my old crt 17'' that has a resolution max of 1280X1024.
The GeForce 6200 has 2048 x 1536 in analog mode at 85hz, and 1600 x 1200 in digital mode.
so i think it is better , but is it enough lol?

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
99% of the newer monitors supports 1600 x 1200 so that should not a be a problem but the performance in games will not be the best in that resolution with such a old card. I would buy a 22" or 19" run it in 1600 x 1200 until you buy a new computer then i would run it in the max resolution. You won't be able to enjoy the full quality of the mintor until you get a new computer but it's better then your old CRT in both resolution and it saves space.

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
ok, i go for it then , thank you very mutch dude.
I suppose 1920x1280 is the max res for new monitor?? you can go down easely. For example mine is 1280x1024 max, but i work with 1024x768.
And ET 800x600
And a 24 ''? lol , can i buy?

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
Yes for most 22" monitors 1920 x 1020 is max and you can set it to be anything beetwen 680 x 460/800 x 600 and a 24" should work just fine to as long as it got a DVI input.

Re: Monitor Resolution ???
Well IPS is the best but they are expensive around minimum 250 euros and considering you had a 150€ gift card i would go for the one grim said. It got full hd (1920x1080), DVI and VGA, LED, very thin and adjustable stand for mounting on the wall or having it stand on a table.
